The United States were once part of the British Empire, but in 1776 they official separated for economic reasons. The reason they broke apart was to become trading partners. Because they separated from each other, a country was created, that country is the U.S. -
Independence of Ireland
Originally Ireland was a part of Great Britain, but they split up for cultual reasons. Those reasons are; the people of Great Britain are mostly protestant religion and Ireland is mostly Catholic except for Northern Ireland which is still ruled by England. But because of the cultural differences, Ireland became its own country. -
Quebec gains autonomy
Quebec has tried to separate from Canada but they could not gain full independence. They tried to become independence for cultural reasons. Reasons being that most of Quebec is French speaking people and the rest of Canada is not. They also tried to break apart because of the religion difference. The people of Quebec are Catholic and the rest of Canada is mostly Protestant. Unfortunetly Quebec did not gain full independence, but the best Quebec could get is autonomy. -
Break-up of Yugoslavia
Slovenia and Croatia were the first ones to declare independence from Yugoslavia. That started the break-up of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia broke-up because of cultural reasons. They did not like the different ethnic groups all in the same place. The countries created from the break-up are Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, and Bosnia. -
Scotland tries for Independence
Scotland tried to separate from the UK for mainly economic reasons. England does not want to give Scotland full Independence because they have alot of good natural resources like oil and natural gas. Unfortunetly Scotland did not gain independence but gained an autonomy.
