  • Early 1810

    Hidalgo, Josefa Ortiz de Domiguez, Allende, Galvan, and others create the Literary Club, which had intentions of overthrowing the government. At the same time in Spain, France was taking important cities. This is where the independence begins.

    Galvan betrayed the Literary Club and told the Audiencia about Allende and Hidalgo's intentions. Because of these rumors, they inspected and found guns and ammo in Epigmenio Gonzalez's house in Queretaro.
  • Grito de Dolores

    Priest Hidalgo gathered an improvised army out of all the group of people that had reasons to overthrow the government, know as El Grito de Dolores, he waved an image of La Virgen de Guadalupe. This is when the independence takes action.

    Hidalgo along his men marched to Guanajuato were they were caught by surprise by the Spaniards, and they engaged in combat.
  • Oct 30

    Hidalgo had the numbers in his favor, outnumbering the enemy's troops, the army that marched from Mexico City proved that more soldiers can beat fewer that are well trained and equiped.
  • Janurary

    The insurgentes captured Felix Callejas and created the firs Mexican constitution, the Constitution of Apatzingán.
  • Jul 31

    Hidalgo was executed and his head was chopped off and hanged to be exhibited and make people fear and back away from the movement.
  • Morelos

    Morelos took the lead of the movement after Hidalgo. He tried to get support from various groups and helped free others, but he was captured and executed just like Hidalgo.
  • Plan de Iguala

    The viceroy and Itrubide design plans against Guerrero, though neither of the sides was completly satisfied, they closed the deal and Mexico became independent.
  • September

    Iturbide assumes position as Emperor of Mexico, this is the end of the war.
