    During these revolutions groups called "Juntas" were created. These groups were a temporary patriotic institiution created to govern Spain while their king remained as a French prisoner of war. Junta was a new political power and took control of many areas while the king was away.

    The king of Portugual was in many wars. He left his son in charge of Brazil. The Brazilian people were reevaluating their decisions and in 1822 the son of the king gave Brazil their independance.
