    The Estates General meeting was a huge opportunity for the poorest people of the Third estate to finally be heard by the King. The double representation was seen as a huge victory and a hope for a change was growing.

    Start of the Revolution
    The estate has begun there meeting in Versailles on May 5, 1789. Then the third Estate declared itself as a “National Assembly” which was representative by the people. This was a new National Assembly to include the other two estate. King Louis XVI attempted to shut down the national Assembly.
    The tension has increased because of massive crop failures that has led to food shortages. In paris the streets have been filled up with mobs, the king has decided to use force.

    A group formed of craftsmen and salesmen decided to fight back and ran to the Invalides to steal some weapons. The mob stole 28,000 riffles there, however no powder was to be found.The crowd knew that a pile of powder was stocked in the Bastille, so they decided to attack it.
    The king met some of the men inside but the rest attacked and resulted in many deaths, but a win for the people of France.

    The Great Fear started at the beginning of the French Revolution. The whole countryside was worried ever since the worsening grain shortage since the spring. There were rumors of militias hired by the nobles to protect the new harvest and prey on the villages.The Great Fear in the countryside started on July 19, 1789 through August 5, 1789. The peasants ransacked and destroyed aristocratic property and feudal obligations, as well as cases of violence against aristocrats.

    On October 5, 1789, rumors spread in Paris that the royals were keeping all the grain. Becoming enraged and incited by revolutionaries, a hungry mob of 7,000 knife-wielding fishwives and their husbands decided to march on the Palace of Versailles.

    This Constitution of 1791 was the first ever written Constitution of France that would represent everyone in the nation. The idea of the constitution was to to finally have a constitution and establish sovereignty, following similar steps taken by the USA. The constitution had adopted some ideas that were rather controversial- the creation of a French constitutional monarchy. The main controversy was the level of power to be granted to the King of France in such a system.

    The execution of King Louis XVI took place on the 20th of January 1793, by guillotine. It happened in the "Revolution Square" as named so by the people. It was closesly followed by the execution of Marie Antionette.
