Fur trading started in Canada when the Europeans of King Henry IV showed up. The temperature in Canada was really cold, so the Europeans traded with the indigenous people for fur coats to survive the cold climate. It began trade between the Indigeous people and the Europeans.

Carleton's recommendations are instituted in the Québec Act, which introduces British criminal law but retains French civil law and guarantees religious freedom for Roman Catholics. The Act's geographical claims were so great that it helped precipitate the American Revolution. Quebec is considered one of the founding nations, and this is why Canada is bilingual/Quebec has many different laws than the rest of Canada!

Some British people in North America decided that they weren't very connected with Britain, so they wanted to separate. It lead to a war that separated people that wanted to be with Britain and people who wanted to be free from Britain.

Western Québec filling with English-speaking Loyalists, the Constitutional Act of 1791 divides Québec into Upper and Lower Canada. It gave powers, to both, but British had some superior powers over the French in some aspects + both assemblies controlled the ability to tax, so this lead to conflict between them. It is important because they developed policies in the opposition.

The CPR starts to go all over Canada! Barkerville is where the gold rush happened. It was named after Billy Barker who struck gold on his last try. People came from all over like Germany and China and even Hawaii to British Columbia for the gold. The Klondike Gold Rush leads to the establishments of the Yukon.
