    Montag meets Clarisse
    Montag knows that there is a new family that just moved into their neighborhood. He is fortunate enough to meet the daughter, Clarisse, who describes herself as "seventeen and crazy." Although the rest of her family is a mystery, Clarisse and Montag develop a very close friendship in which they develop a better understanding for the world they live in.

    As Montag returns home from work and his walk with Clarisse, he is shocked to find that Milrdred has overdosed on sleeping pills. He calls the "doctors" and is surprised with the fact that they don't look like doctors whatsoever, but plumbers. They pump her stomach and switch her blood quickly before Montag is able to say anything.
  • Mechanical Hound

    Mechanical Hound
    The firemen use technological mechanical hounds to assist them in maintaining control of their society. As Montag goes down to check on one, it seems as if the hound made a threat toward him. Although Captain Beatty reassures him that it's just his imagination, Montag can't help but believe the mechanical hound is coming after him next.

    What Mildred doesn't remember
    The next morning, Montag is awoken to find Mildred raiding the pantry talking about some sort of party the night before. Apparently, she didn't remember anything about her overdose and just believed that she maybe got a little too crazy at a party. Montag tries to explain what really happened and Mildred just plays it off like nothing happened.

    Montag and Clarisse continuously meet and speak about the world surrounding them. But then suddenly, Clarisse is nowhere to be found. Her family is gone also and her house is empty. He begins to wonder what happened to her.

    The firemen receive a call from he neighbor of a woman. The rush to the house and find that the woman's house is filled with books. They begin to burning the books and as they ae about to set the house on fire, they try to get the woman to leave but she refuses. Instead she sets the house and fire and burns along with them. Little do they know, Montag retrieves a book before the house is set up in flames.

    Montag returns home and hides the book underneath is pillow believing it will stop someone from finding it. He is awoken that night by the realization that he cannot remember the first time his wife and he met. It cntinues to trouble him throughout the night, The next morning he finds that his wife and him are disconnected in their relationship and are being torn by technology and the real world.

    Montag claims that he is sick and decides not to go to work. He starts to wonder about books.He is surprised by the visit of Captain Beatty who claims that every fireman goes through a crisis where they want to test the rules. He advises not to and continues to tell a story while Beatty himself quotes bits of literatue. After Beatty's visit, Montag questions the role of firemen in their society.

    Montag meets a man named Faber who has his love for books very much alive. Montag believes that Faber is just the man that he needs in order to learn more about their society. Faber and Montag discuss ways to end the reign of the firemen and get society back to thinking on its own.

    After killing Beatty, Montag escapes to find a grooup of men who are considered outcasts because they attempt to defy the firemen and got away. These men all speak about their orgins and how each one is very important for the rebirth of society. They believe that the firemen wil soon come to an end because of the war.

    THE ALARM
    Montag returns to work and decides to join Captain Beatty and the other firemen in a game of poker. As the game goes on, Beatty begins to taunt Montag with a variety of quotes from literature and before Montag is able to question him the alarm rings. They get ready and Montag is stunned to find they stop in front of his house.
  • The end of that society

    The end of that society
    As the firemen kill off a guy who looks like Montag because they can't let their society know he got away, the screams of war become louder and louder. The men and Montag discuss their future plans and as this happens, they look in the distance to see the old city and find nothing but a large cloud rising in the shape of a mushroom. The war has begun.
