  • James I takes the throne

    *James VI became James I because he was the first ruler of both England and scotland there for making him the first to them.
    *His mother Mary was forced to resign (abdicate) from the throne.
    *His mother, Lord Darnley (his father), Queen Elizabeth I, were involved.
    *what happened was his mother mary was forced to abdicate and then fled to england where shes was imprisoned for 19 years. but his father had died in mysterious circustances after the birth of james.
  • Charles I signs the petition of right

    *Charles needed money to share his veiws so he turned to the parliament for help. they took advantage of it and forced him into signing the agreement.
    *Paliament, englishmen, charles.
    *they forced him to sign while he was vunerable.
    *they had a signed petition of rights.
  • Charles I faces rebellion in Scotland

    *Charles was trying to force his political veiws on the public.
    *Charles, his wife, the public
    *the citizens rebelled saying they will not convert. which caused a rebellion.
    *Charles thought he had to take a stronger approach..he chose to rule without parliament if they refused to do what he wanted.

    *he was described as a tyrant, a traitor, muderer and a public enemy.

    *there were supposed to be over 100 judges there but only 68, they saw him as all those things above. and they decided he was indeed guilty of all of them.
  • Oliver Cromwell invades ireland

    *reason being England's long parliament.

    *there was dissention between the new army and the parliament. Cromwell was trialed for feeling to the isle of wight.
    * He then put down rebellions in scotland and soon took down the Parliament with him.
    and created a "little" parliament with certain people chosen from the army.

    • a political crisis following the death of cromwell in 1658 resulted in charles being invited to return and assume the throne in what became known as the restoration.
