Repeal of the Cornlaws
The cornlaws were removed due to Britain wanting free trade between all coountries. With this law being abolished the colonies ties between eachother weakened. -
The Underground Railroads
The term is not always literal, somtimes the path route was underground. This was used as a way for slaves to reach freedom. Slaves either escaped by foot, train or boat. It was started towards the end of the 18th century. -
First Postage Stamp
The first postage stamp was a three penny stamp with a beaver on it. -
Politcal Deadlock
This happened do to no political stability. With the two political parties, English and French speaking Canadians, having troubles between each other they could not come to an agreement causing the deadlock. -

British Columbia: Gold Rush
The gold rush hype declined in 1860. 20 000 American men came from all over to get there turn at the gold. -
James Douglas: Governor
Douglas was the governor of Vancouver Island and was sworn in as the governor of British Columbia. -
Parliment Building
At this time the first Parliment Building cornerstone was layed down. -
Trent Affair
This event was when the U.S stopped a British ship. The British goverment wanted them back and realized thats this could cause the BNA colonies to be in the middle of a battleground. -
Charlettetown Conference
This conference ended on September 9th 1864. They disscused the finances and reasonings for Confederation. -
Quebec Conference
This conference ended October 29th 1864. At this they came up with the plan to enact 'Seventy Two Resolutions' -
End of Reciprocity
On June 6th 1854 the U.S and Canada signed a Reciprocity Treaty. The U.S cancelled said treaty in 1865 which allowed free trade between BNA and U.S.A. -
Fenian Raids
The Fenians came together to divert the Britain troops from going to Ireland. The worst of all invasions was The Battle of Ridgeway. -
Colonies: Vancouver Island and British Columbia
During this time the two colonies merged together to make just British Columbia alone. -
London Conference
At this conference they drafted a Confederation bill to give to the British Parliament. -
British North America Act
After the Confederation Bill was presented, in 1867 the bill was passed. -
Confederation: Provinces and Territories
During this time in the year New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec came together to join in Confederation. -
A New Prime Minister
John A MAcDonald was sworn in as the Prime Minister. -
Thomas D'Arcy McGee Death
McGee was assaassinated by Patrick J Whelan. -
Thomas Scott Death
Scott was executed by the orders of Riel. -
Confedration: Manitoba
At this time Manitoba and Northwest Territories joined Confederation -
Confederation:British Columbia
British Columbia was the second last to join Confederation. -
Prime Minister Resignation
Due to scandals John A. resigned from his position as Prime Minister. -
Confederation: Prince Edward Island
PEI was the last of all to join Confederation. -
Supreme Court
To an unknown date by known year at this time the Supreme Court of Canada was created.
