The Triumph of Parliament

    James I is the son of the Queen of Scots, Mary. He served for 36 years for England and Scotland. He was a lover of that arts. He ordered that the Bible be printed in his own translation. This eventually became the King James Bible. This was his big idea that he brought into power.

  • Charles I inherit's the throne to be king.

    Charles I inherited the throne in 1625 and worked the throne like his dad. He made it a monarchy. He wasn't supposed to be the king, everything was passed down to him, due to the fact that his brother had passed away.
  • The idea of Parliament was presented.

    People brought up the idea of parliament and said that it was absolutely needed for government. This was so people could despute over different taxes. They also created taxes that needed to be looked at by a group of people to vote on them.

    Charles I signed the treaty for Parliament. He agreed that there should be a governent that comntrols laws.
  • Charles and Laud push a prayer book on Scotland.

    Chalres was taking after his father. They both wanted to push prayer and literature on Scotland.

    Charles had to summon the Parliament again. This was because he had failure to end rebellion in Scotland.

    It became known as the "Long Parliament" due to the fact that disputes between Charles and the parliment lasted 13 years.

    After their was news of rebellion, they fought to stop the Irish from rebelling anymore. He arrested most of them.

    Charles went iinto the Scottish Army and was turned down by them. Then didn't like his support with them.

    Charles I didn't have a good relationship with Parliament. They were his enemies. They did this for years.

    Parliament made a law saying that Catholics had to move to western Ireland. This was so they had room for their practice of religion.

    The title of "Lord Protector" basically means head of state. It also mean that he was the protector of the church and it's beliefs.
  • Newly Elected Parliament invited Charles II to return to England from exile.

    Despite what had happened with everything from the war and Charles I death, they wanted to bring Charles II to come back from where they sent Catholics.
