  • American Revolution

    The American Revolution involved the American people fighting against Great Britain’s tyrannical behavior towards them. They were fighting for freedom. This revolution occurred in America. Great Britain was the aggressor, while America was the victim. The efforts of America to resist Great Britain proved successful as America won the war and gained her freedom and independence from Great Britain.
  • French Revolution

    France’s Third Estate fought against their king, Louis XVI They were paying taxes while the clergy and nobles didn’t. They wanted equality.It was in France. King Louis XVI was the aggressor, the lower class was the victim. The revolt involved the Third Estate taking over the government which would switch those labels. Online sources say efforts to resist were short term unsuccessful with many deaths and eventual dictatorship. But monarchy rule was gone and new ideas and principles were coming.
  • Haiti Revolution

    Haiti Revolution started with free people of color and poor whites wanting the same rights as other French citizens. This took place in St Domingue (current day Haiti).The free people of St Domingue with no rights assumed the role of the aggressor as they demanded equality and the slaves as in any situation were the victims – for a time. The slaves then turned into the aggressors as they revolted. Their efforts to resist proved successful as their uprising resulted in the abolition of slavery.
  • Venezuelan Revolution

    This revolt was led by Simón Bolivar to provide liberty and equality specific to the different groups in this Spanish colony.This occurred in Venezuela.Spain was the aggressor forcing rules, taxes and slavery upon the people who lived there.Each social group could be considered a victim with slaves being the most victimized.Their efforts to resist were successful for a time. Equal opportunities were available including the abolishment of slavery, unfortunately this was a temporary achievement.
  • Hidalgo Revolt

    Miguel Hidalgo united mestizos to revolt against Spain’s tyrannical rule.His basis was unfair taxing, he encouraged them through nationalism and religion.This was in New Spain.The original aggressor was Spain taking advantage of mestizos.The mestizos changed from victim to aggressor as they pursued and attacked Spanish troops. Efforts to resist were unsuccessful. According to the article, Hidalgo’s ideas drove others to continue a fight against Spain. In 1821 Mexico won independence from Spain.
  • Boxer Rebellion

    A group called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists led an uprising in northern China to eliminate the spread of Western and Japanese influence in their country. The aggressors were the “Boxers” who using calisthenic rituals and martial arts would attack foreigners and Chinese Christians, the victims. According to online sites their efforts to resist proved to be successful in that the Qing dynasty became weakened and eventually came to an end with China becoming a republic in 1912.
  • Young Turk Revolution

    The Young Turk Revolution was led by Sun Yat-sen to achieve freedom and liberty from the controlling Ottoman Empire. This occurred in Turkey. The aggressor was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire with its citizens being the victims. Their efforts to resist were successful. According to Wikipedia, the Young Turk Revolution resulted in the establishment of a constitution. A parliament was formed with chosen representatives and the sultan no longer had executive powers.
