    During this stage of the revolution, the insurgent leaders were talking about a change in government and discussing plans for change. This stage was when it all began, when Hidalgo gave the call to action after the Dominguez.s were caught.

    The sovereignty of Spain was in question because of the triumph on the french troops and Mexico was baffled. Since the Spaniards saw that even their 'mother country' was weak and could be invaded, then they brought in question if they should still be the leaders of New Spain.

    Since a lot of conspiracies were occuring and the criollos were known to be very social, the criollos were getting together in fake literary clubs to discuss politics and the future of the country.

    The Dominguez's get Caught
    On this day, the government seized the arms that were hidden in Epigmenio Gonzalez's house and seeing as they were caught, Josefa sent a messenger to let Allende know. The messenger couldn't find Allende and informed hIdalgo of everything, which jumpstarted the Independence.

    Miguel Hidalgo learns of the capture of the Dominguez’s and decides to advance with the plan of independence and decides to manipulate the indians’ desires and calls them to arms ringing the church bell, bearing the Virgen of Guadalupe as the symbol of the revolution.

    The insurgents attack the alhondiga de granaditas, half a thousand spaniards were killed and even more indians, the legend of the Pipila begins, the insurgents successfully take the granary.

    In Monte de las Cruces, the rebels fought against Spaniards and after a small but bloody campaign, the insurgents rose in victory in monte de las cruces, crucial for territory and handling the people and surrounding Mexico City.

    Insurgent defeat and Hidalgo no longer in military charge
    Calleja beats the insurgentes at the Puente de Calderón, and in Aguascalientes Hidalgo is stripped of military ranks, at this point the insugent leaders are caught and are fusilated, except for Hidalgo, who is taken to the inquisition because of his position as a father.

    Hidalgo is questioned by the inquisition and is declared guilty of treason and heresy, he is sentenced to death and his head is presented in a spike in the alhondiga de granaditas. His death brought a lot of despair among the rebels and caused a lot of them to loose faith in the cause.

    Consolidation

    After all the momentum and initial fire had subdued, the real change started to occur and the small factions left were the ones that were going to pave the way for it all. This stage is called the consolidation because it is when the remaining rebels organize and strategically attack.

    Morelos falls
    After Hidalgo fell, Jose Maria morelos, another father and Hidalgo's student fell in charge of the rebel force. As a more strategic and military leader, he won a lot of territory and ultimately is responsible for a large part of the independence. Morelos falls prisoner in Temaca, and is sentenced to death, the sentence is carried out in December.

    The resistance are the final years of the revolution, when all the original insurgents are dead but some Spaniards join the mexican cause because they know they are going to win. The resistance they receive is from the remaining Spanish force in the country.

    The last year of the revolution, when Iturbide, the Spaniard triumphantly arrives to Mexico City as a leader of the Mexican people.

    Iturbide writes the plan de iguala and organizes the army of three guarantees: religion, independence, and unity.

    End of Independence
    The army of three guarantees marches into Mexico City, the Mexican independence has come to an end.
