  • Independence

    The “Cry of Independence”, attributed to the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in the town of Dolores, located in the Guanajuato. Beginning of the independence movement.
  • Constitution

    It is “established that the Mexican Nation is forever free and independent from the Spanish government and from any other power” (Article 1).
  • War with United States

    Changed the slavery debate. It almost doubled the size of the United States and began a debate, between Northerners and Southerners, over what to do with the newly acquired land.
  • Reform war

    This was a civil conflict that took place in Mexico, the free faced conservatives.
  • Benito Juárez Goverment

    Juárez always defended equality, freedom, legality and democracy. Benito Juárez legislated so that the education of Mexicans was free, compulsory and secular.
  • The porfiriato

    Armed movement against the government of General Porfirio Díaz, who governed the country for more than thirty years.
  • Mexican revolution

    Was an extended sequence of armed regional conflicts. It has been called "the defining event of modern Mexican history".
