Before the revolution the french people were divided into 3 groups.
-The 1st estate witch consisted of the clergy
-The 2nd estate that consisted of the nobles
-And the 3rd esate that consisted of the rest of the population(peasents,urban workers etc) -
They voted to establish the national assembly in effect proclaiming absolute monarchy and the begginging of representitive goverment

A mob stormed the bastile in search of gun powder and to protect themselfs. As the revolution grew peasents were known as the great fear.

motivated more by fear then by idealism they joined other memeber of the national assembly and sweeping away the fuedal privlages of the first and second esate

the legislative assembly reponded by declaring war. Prussian commander threatended to destroy paris if the revolutionareies harmed any of the royal family.

20,000 women and men invaded tuileries, the palace where the royal family was staying. the mob masacured the royal guards and imprisioned marie antoniette and their children

The former king walked with clam dignity up the steps of the scaffold to be beheaded by a machine called the guillotine.

Members of the National convention turned on Robespere.They demeanded his arrest and execution, Robespere went to the guillotine. This ended the Reign of Terror
