Montag gets home at night. He steps on a empty sleeping pill bottle, and realizs that his wife was overdosed. He calls the ambulance and they get the medicine out of her.

Montag doesn't walk with Clarisse for a while. He asks his wife if she has seen her lately, and she tells him that he died.

After Clarisse dies, Montag gets curious about books. he tries to plan out a way get one and take it home.

When the fireman go to the house that needs burning, he grabs a book and takes it home. He later shows it to his wife.

Montag won't return the books he has, so his wife pulls the alarm. The fireman goes to the house to burn it.

Mildred pulls the alarm. Montag and the other fireman get to his house. he won't give them the books. Montag kills Beatty with a flamethrower.

When the firemen come to Montag's house and try to get the books, he runs away. He escapes through the back alleys.

Once he gets away from the firemen, the government goes after him While he is running away from them he gets shot at.

Montag gets away from the goveernment and him and the other hobos start collecting books
