    Norman Conquests
    The Norman conquest was a main event for the history of Britain because it connected the continent more closely by decreasing the Scandanavian influence and introducing the Norman French Aristocracy. The English language spread even more after the French language was adopted. The Vikings invaded in 1066, King Harold of England fought against the invaders at the battle of Stamford Bridge. They were in a weak state and William the Conqueror invaded and kill Harold and his army fled.

    First Crusade
    The massacre of 3000 Christian pilgrims caused the first crusade in 1096 which lasted till 1099. The first crusade revolved around religion and how the Priests said God wanted them to attack and take it over. A series of attacks and they finally took over Jerusalem and settled down there marking territory of whom ever got it first.

    The Second Crusade
    The second crusade lasted from 1147-1149 and the cause of this crusade was the fall and massacre at Eddessa. The preachings of St. Bernard were spoken all over and he was on platforms preaching to people who would gather around and listen to him preach. The crusade in the end was a fail because only a few people had escaped annihilation in Asia Minor at the hands of the Turks.

    The Third Crusade and the capture of Jerusalem by Saladin in 1187. Once priests heard about the capture and word spread they all wanted to reclaim the land and so they made cross things made of silver gold and many fabrics and went out to take back the Holy Land of Jerusalem.

    The magna carta was one of the most important documents of medevial england. the magna carta covered the position of the Catholic church, clauses that concern Englands legal system, and it also stated that no freeman could be imprisoned or punished without first going through the proper legal system.

    Start of 100 Year War
    The 100 years war was a fight between England and France and all of the battles were fought in France but the war actually lasted 116 years. At the age of 16 Joan of Arc felt that she had to lead the French people to freedom so she told the king that she heard from God that she must lead them and so she lead them to war. She got to where she wanted but broke down and they burned her at the stake and she became a national hero.

    The bubonic plague killed approximately 1/3 of the population and was caused by the Mongols throwing the dead bodies into the sea and the rats getting diseases that were then passed on to fleas which bit the people and the disease spread all throughout the Middle East from person to person killing them.

    The Great Schism was the seperation between the Eastern and Western churches. They felt that the beliefs of each church was different and the Eastern church believed the use of art drawing Jesus and Mary was idols. So the priests decided to seperate and create two different churches with different beliefs.
