    Was a law which was enacted by the legislater of the province of Canada. Which was passed by James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin.
  • Crown Colony of Vancouver Island is created

    Crown Colony of Vancouver Island is created
    Joined British Columbia which then joined dominion of Canada.
  • Reciprocity Treaty is signed with the USA

    Reciprocity Treaty is signed with the USA
    This treaty oppend up new oportunities for economy. Also many new trading opportunities such as free trade. Which lead to political victory.

    This act was for the protection of First Naitions tribes in Upper Canada. Which made them no longer a legal indian and made them a regular British subject.

    Colony of British Columbia is created
    Which physically consisted of half of the present day province of British Columbia. But not until later was the place Vancouver Island added.

    Was the two polotical parties which were Upper and Lower Canada also known as Canada West and East. Formed to stop the french speaking part of Canada in poplulation.
  • Charlottetown Conference takes place

    Originally planned as a meeting between the representitives of the Maritime colinies (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.)
  • Quebec Conference is held

    Quebec Conference is held
    This was the aftermath of the Charlottetown Confrence. Once they ended in Charlottetown they decided to end the confrence in Quebec city.

    The London Confrence was held in the United Kingdom and lasted for around a year. Made a seprate school system. John A Macdonald was the chairman of this confrence.

    Also joined with the rest of the Maritime colonies but backed out because they felt like they were taken advantage of.Then eventually joined.

    Manitoba needed to join Canada because the needed the federal government which gave them access to funds that they could thrive off of.

    Joined confederation because of the Hudsons Bay Company. Which owned the land.
  • British Columbia

    British Columbia
    The Canadian Goverment made an agreement saying it'd extend the Canadian Pacific Railway to British Columbia, and would also take care of the colony's debts, if British Columbia joined Confederation as the sixth province. British Columbia agreed.
  • Prince Edward Island

    Prince Edward Island joined Canada along with the rest of the Maritime provinces which happend after many others joined.

    Yukon Territory is the smallest out of all of Canada's territory. The capitol being White Horse.

    The population had grown and the territory was no longer just a fur trade area. The region featured farming, logging, mining, and the railway.

    New Found Land and Labradour
    By the end of WWII, Newfoundland's economy had rebounded. Britain, who was tired of financially supporting Newfoundland, found this to be an opportune time to determine the constitutional future of Newfoundland. Three options were available: Maintain the Commission, recreate its own Responsible Government, or join Confederation. Newfoundland officially joined Confederation on March 31, 1949.
  • Nunavut

    Nunavut
    The Inuit people wanted control over their own lands and resources in the Arctic. Without consulting them, decisions had been made about the use of their lands. They negotiated to regain control of their land as a territory joined to Canada.
