  • Flash Drive

    Flash Drive
During student teaching, I carried all my teaching files on a flash drive. I relied on it. All my lessons were stored on a tiny little device. Luckily, I didn't have any issues with it during that time!
  • PowerPoint

    PowerPoint
During student teaching, I used PowerPoint for all of my lessons. At the time, it was "advanced" to use PowerPoint.

    YouTube
During student teaching, I used YouTube clips in many of my lessons. However, the school that I was teaching at had blocked YouTube!
  • ZamZar

    ZamZar
My master teacher referred me to ZamZar, a website that allowed you to convert YouTube videos and download them. However, today, ZamZar no longer converts YouTube videos.
  • Calendar

    Calendar
My master teacher used a window frame as a calendar. She asked me to keep it updated. I used to take it home and use vis a vis markers to update it with new assignments. It was supposed to be for students to glance at if they were absent. I remember that students didn't seem to use it very often.

  • Teacher Website

    Teacher Website
The school had a way for us to create our own websites. Only a few teachers had them set up, but I was one of them. Unfortunately, student didn't use them as much as I wanted them too because accessing the website was kind of complicated.

  • Aeries Parent Portal

    Aeries Parent Portal
During my 2nd year of teaching, the school had a way for parents to check their student's grades. However, this was so new that it didn't really get utilized until last year. Student could also check their grades on this website.
  • Utlizing Cell Phones

    Utlizing Cell Phones
I used remind.com to send out reminder messages to my students. This website/app would have worked better if more of my students had used it. Many claimed they didn't have enough data to recieve messages from the app.
  • Teacher tablets

    Teacher tablets
Last year, the teachers all received tablets. The school district wanted to give the teachers their tablets before students received theirs so that teachers had time to get used to them. That didn't really work. Many teachers didn't use them at all. I definitely used mine and quickly figured out that it wasn't very good quality. At least I was ready when the students recieved theirs, and I was able to help them.
  • Prezi

    Prezi
Prezi has replaced PowerPoint for me, even the students use it regularly now. In my opinion, students find it much more entertaining.
