    1.1 Birth
I was born early on a Sunday morning. I am the middle child, with two amazing sisters.
  • 2.4 APGAR

Nicolai showed all the signs of a healthy newborn. I would place him at eight out of ten using the Apgar scoring sysytem. He had a good heart rate, good crying for respritory effort, pink body with very little blue, and good reflex responsivity. Nicolai also was born a normal weight of 8 pounds 5 ounces. He seemed very active and responsive to everyone. Lastly, I noticed that he tried to open his eyes but was having a hard time with the bright lights which is normal with all newborns.
  • 4.2 First Word

My first word, supposedly, was "no". I said no to everything and everyone. My dad claims I obviously did not understand it very well, but it was the first word I had caught onto. Saying one word for everything is a word spurt. I spurted out the one word I was influenced by the most.
  • 4.1 Memory

My oldest memory is waking up and walking to the kitchen to see my mom cooking breakfast. I know there was music playing, I just can't remember what. Then I remember my dad picking me up. This is an autobiographical memory. It's one I have of myself and an age my parents always recall. We always talked about how I was an early bird and the first thing I did was walk into the kitchen with my little dog.
  • 5.1 Kohlberg's & Gender

Parker seems like she could be around three years old. According to Kohlberg's theory Parker is at the age of being to identify her own gender. She also has picked up gender role stereotypes. For example, she expects a little boy to grow up to be a "daddy" who is a man. She's at the age of associating certain actiities and colors to a specific gender.
  • 6.1 Basic Emotion

My earliest memory of crying was when I was about four. I had my thumb, accidentally, slammed into the car door. I cried and screamed at the top of my lungs. This was the perfect reaction because I got everyone's attention. My dad reacted very quickly because he knew I was hurt. It served as an adaptive function because I knew that crying would convey my pain and get my dad's attention quickly.
  • 6.1 Basic Emotion

My earliest memory of basic emotion is one of crying when I was four. I had my had thumb accidentally slammed into a car door. I cried and screamed on the top of my lungs. Instictively, I knew this would get my dad's attention quickly. It served as an adaptive function because everytime I needed to convey that I was hurt and needed help, I knew to cry.

  • 3.1 Preoperational

    3.1 Preoperational
I would describe magnetism to a five year old in a the preoperational age by demonstrating. I would tell the child that magnetism is when two objects are attracted and stick to eachother. Then I would demonstrate that with two magnets. This child would feel that they are seeing and understanding magnetism the same way other people are (egocentric perception). The child wouldn't understand the depths of magnetism (i.e. positive and negative charges) because they can't put two stages together.
  • 5.2 Encouraging Gender Schemas

    5.2 Encouraging Gender Schemas
My kindergarten classroom had a play section that was split in two. One side had a play kitchen and dolls and a dinner table, and the boys side had tools, and cars. There were always pictures of cartoon characters where the boy wore the pants and the girl wore the pink dress. From a young age adults have encouraged the gender stereotype that girls are more feminine, like to cook and clean while the man does the labor intensive work. This was very apparent in my classroom.
  • 2.2- Active Gene Environment Correlation

    2.2- Active Gene Environment Correlation
Since I was about 5 I have always had a desire to cook and be in the kitchen instead of watching TV with my sisters. Both my parents enjoy cooking and it has been a big part of their lives. Therefore, I have to say that it is a gene that I actively chose. For example, I have always chosen to play a very active role in planning Thanksgiving dinner every year.
  • 6.2 Self Control

    6.2 Self Control
A time when I did not demostrate self control was when I bought a book from the school bookstore after my parents told me I had to wait until after my birthday. Not being able to resist, I had to buy this book and I did. My capacity to delay the gratification was really low. I did not wait more than a couple day to satisfy my temptation. Maybe if I had a distraction and was not taken to the bookstore everyday I ould have waited longer and demonstrated more self control and a longer delay.
  • 8.1- Children and Television

When I was around 7 years old there was a very popular war movie out. I did not understand it at all. I knew there was a war between two countries, and understood the sacrafices the soldiers were making. However, I could not tell you the details. My older cousins were amazed how I didn't understand the movie or think it was interesting.
  • 1.2 Theories

    1.2 Theories
When I was eight years old I was sent to India to study at a Catholic School in the state of Punjab. Being in a new country without my gaurdians forced me to make decisions for myself I would not normally make. The six month experience taught me how to relate to people I was very different from. Erikson would say that my social interacitons and high involvement in the new society gave me a foundation that would change my approach to people and relationships later in my life.
  • 3.3 Imaginary Audience

When I was in sixth grade my friends wanted to perform at the school talent show. I did not want to perform because I was so nervous that if I messed up than what would everyone think of me? I was so consumed with the thought that I would become the joke of the school if forgot my dance steps or did not perform as well as everyone else. I unfortunately never got the courage to perform for that talent show.
  • 3.2 Concrete Magnetism

Since a concrete operational child can reason and think logically and is not thinking in stages anymore, I can explain magentism with a little more depth. This chld will know that other people will understand magnetism differently from their them. Unlike the preoperational child this child will also be able to reverse the events therefore get a better understanding.
  • 8.2- School Transitions

    8.2- School Transitions
Going to Jr. High school was very different for several reasons. I was going to different classes every period, my friends were in a different "family" and I did not know people in my family that well. However, it was not all that bad. I did not notice kids having really low self esteem or being really self conscious. There was a large gap between those inerested in their studies and those who were not. The ones that did not care did poorly even throughout high school.
  • 2.3- Evocative Gene Environment Correlation

    2.3- Evocative Gene Environment Correlation
I am not the most athletic girl someone will meet, but I have always had a high level of energy. The only way my energy was ever put to good use was by involving me in martial arts classes. As a child, my dad exposed me to martial arts and kick boxing. Finally, as a sophomore in high school I joined a club with professional instructors.
  • 3.3 Personal Fable

    3.3 Personal Fable
When I was fourteen I wanted to go to a friends sleepover. For whatever reason my parents did not allow me to go. I spent the entire weekend behaving as if my world was over and no one understands me. Around that age I definitely had an attitude that no one understands me, especially if I could not get my parents to agree with me.
  • 2.1 Passive Gene Environment Correlation

    2.1 Passive Gene Environment Correlation
My dad is a very sociable person. Growing up we had dinner parties or family get togethers every weekend, and birthdays were celebrated like the holidays. This sociablity has definitley been passed down to me and a perfect example of this was when I moved into my own apartment. I have get togethers on most weekends with friends. My friends birthdays are always a huge deal, so I make sure to make it extra special. May 31st is my best friends birthday and always lots of fun.
