    S&C Daily life of Aboriginals
    The Iroquois believed in cooperation. Because they believed in cooperation it affected the way they grew food, the way they governed themselves and how they lived. They were farming people and lived in villages contaning many long houses. They fished all year round and hunted animals like whitetailed deer moose and caribou. The Iroquois had a council of 50 chiefs, and decisions made had to be a total agreement. If the chiefs couldn't agree on something they were able to make their own decision.

    When the Spanish Armada was defeated on August 8th 1588, English ships could travel in the high seas where ever they wanted. England then became a colonizing country. They began building colonies across North America. They traded with these colonies, which improved England a lot. England's population then started increasing.

    On June 7th, King Charles signed the petition of right. Parliament had told King Charles that if he signed the petition of right they would give him the money he needed. After Charles dissolved Parliament again and ruled without it. King Charles was gathering forced loans without approval from Parliament and throwing anyone in jail who refused to give him money.

    In June 1645 the New Model Army was formed. It mostly had veteran soldiers that had deep Puritan religious convictions. Oliver Cromwell was the new model army's general, Parliament had sent out this army under the control of Oliver Cromwell to end the Royalist threat in Ireland and Scotland. Soon he became 'Lord Protector' of England. Cromwell split England up into districts. He made sure each major general was responsible for law, order, and collecting taxes in their district.

    In 1649 on January 30th King Charles was charged with treason against himself. Charles was sentened to death. During his long trial Charles and spectators beleived that they had seen an evil omen in him after Charles had hit his staff on the floor and the golden head on top had fallen off. Charles was forced to go to a high court controlled by his enemies. After that they convicted him of treason and was later beheaded.

    In 1760 in September, John Gilbert built the first canal. Francais Egerton commissioned it so he could transport coal from his mines. It was considered the first true canal in England. The building of this canal led to many other people all over Britain to build canals. This canal helped improve many people's lives because transporting goods became much more efficient.

    In 1765 the Stamp Act was made to make Americans pay a small tax on goods and government services. This tax was a stamp that people were required to buy and stick to everything. This money was supposed to pay for defending American colonies, it angered the Americans a lot. Britain was passing many laws just to anger the Americans. Two years after the war had ended Britain was in a lot of debt, officers of the crown were sent to enforce this law. Many people attacked them.

    In 1785 Edmund Cartwright invented the Power Loom. Before the Power Loom was invented two people would have to work on one loom at the same time and it was very inefficient. Cartwright then set up a factory in England to manufacture cloth. It was soon in factories everywhere. Then many people such as William Horrocks improved it.

    In 1799 November 9th-10th Napoleon overthrew the Government of France. France was over seas, trying to liberate other European countries from Oppression. Back in France its own government was inefficient and corrupt. After Napoleon took over he adopted the title of first consul and started improving French life. Napoleon ordered officials to organize laws in civil code, a new book of law for France.

    In 1804 on December 2nd Napoleon crowned himself emperor of France. Napoleon now had complete control of the country's affairs. He knew he needed to remain popular with the people of France in order to be successful Napoleon believed that society should share his values, he had control over media, the law and the education system so he was able to promote his values. School children were made to memorize lessons about how great Napoleon was.
