Birth
I was born in Danbury, CT on a beautiful day. In the Room all was going well, until I came out... The room was silent, not a scream or a breath was heard. I was dying. The way my moms puts it is that the devil was trying to take me by wrapping my umbilical chord around my neck, but that god saved me because I'm special. -
Hair Dye
I think all 7th graders want to stand out. I think I took this too far when I came to school with bright red hair. My "hair dresser" aka my 7th grade best, friend thought it would be a great idea. She wanted to be a hairdresser and I was her lucky guinea pig. It was a new color every month. First red, then blue, then green, it went on and on. I think I ended up ruining her hairdressing dreams after my hair was so bleach damaged that I was forced to get a pixie haircut. -
Vegan
My dad would always make steak for dinner and I would always ask if the animals suffered. My dad would always tell me that they lived a long happy life and didn't suffer, he was so wrong. When I started learning the truth it only took me 3 weeks to change my diet completely. I felt a difference it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Ive now been vegan for three years and have never looked back. -
Alternative
If I'm being honest this program was just a dumbed down version of regular classes with no homework and very little class work. I didn't learn much but I had straight A's. It wasn't from good teaching, it was because I met my best friends there. We got through it together we came to class for each other and pulled pranks together. I had a family at school and it was the best feeling. I will never forget my time with my alternative family. -
Academic Achievement Award
My freshman year did not go well at all I had 155 absences but surprisingly I only failed 2 classes. I needed serious help. I was enrolled into the Alternative Program. It was a big improvement from the start. I went from barely passing to getting straight As and Bs with few absences. My teacher noticed my 180 turn around and nominated me for an award. The award was for the most improvement in a student and i'm still suprised I won. But it reminds me that if you put effort in you can succeed. -
Luci
Two summers ago I found an advertisement for a clear the shelter event. The animals were discounted with adult cats being only $25. I went with 2 of my friends and we picked out my cat, Lucifer. She was the only calico cat there and by far the sweetest. In the end I payed $50 for a crate and food. I ended up not needing the crate because my cat loves to ride in the car. When we go for rides she puts her paws on the windows and watches all the cars go by. -
Dunkin Donuts
It was August, I had been procrastinating getting a job application since school let out, but today was different. The wifi at my house was down so I had to improvise. I went on a walk to Dunkin Donuts for their free wifi but noticed a help wanted sign. The next day I went to see the manager and I filled out an application. An hour later I get a call back saying my interview is tomorrow and by that Friday I had my first job. -
Brewster
I was thinking about it for weeks, I didn't know how he'd react. I hadn't spoken to my father in 4 years why would he even pick up? My life was snowballing and I needed to make a change. I called my dad and in 2 hours it was final, he was in my driveway. One suitcase, 2 boxes, a cat is all the possessions I had. We made the nerve racking drive to Brewster, NY in 30 min. My step-mom was in the kitchen and we hit it off immediately. We all sat down for dinner and I knew it was gonna be good here. -
Yankees
My step mom is a die hard Yankees fan, she even has their logo tattooed. I've never been a sports fan but she gets the whole family involved. Every night I hear "SEE YAAA!", " THATS HOW YOU PLAY BALL!". She's been listening, watching, and attending games for 30 years. She found out I've never been to a game so this summer we went to the Audi club. We had a great buffet dinner while we watched the Yankees win. -
Maine
My grandparents have a house on an island off the coast of Bar Harbor, ME. This summer I took my best friend with me for his birthday. We went on hiking trails and to all the beaches we could. My favorite trail was one that lead to Hero Beach. The beach had almost no sand, it was all rocks that were smooth and round and there were large rocks to climb on that the ocean was crashing upon.
