I was born at 1:28 a.m., weighing in at 8 lbs. 10 oz. I was briefly in the NICU because the doctor's had to remove me from my mom's birth canal with forcepts - my head was a little too big.

My party was held at McDonald's; at the time, McDonald's playgrounds had grooved metal stairs on their play equipment. When walking up one of the sets of stairs, I slipped and fell, busting open my chin. A stranger carried me inside while I was crying and bleeding. I was then taken to the emergency room where I received 5 stitches. I still have a scar.

We were married at Sand Springs United Methodist Church. A major snow storm had come through the week before and there was still snow on the ground. My bridesmaids were Lisa Hix, maid of honor, and Lori Yandian. Jim's groomsmen were Dustin Reed, best man, and Jimmy McKnight. Our reception was at a hall in dowtown Tulsa. My mom made these beautiful ice luminaries that lit up the sidewalk outside the doors of the reception hall. We left for our hotel in my red Beetle.

It was my first year teaching. I remember the teacher next to me telling me a bomb had gone off at the Twin Towers. I tried to get online to see what was going on but the internet kept crashing. It wasn't until lunch at about 11 that I was able to get to a tv; the first images I saw were of people falling from the towers, and image I will never forget.
