I Was Born
On August 17, 2001, I was born. I was born in Holy Redeemer Hospital at approximately 1:15 AM. I was 9 pounds and 5 ounces, which was the biggest of my 4 siblings. -
9/11
The Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda, hijacked four planes. Two of the planes were flown into the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon, and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. John Walker Lindh Pleaded Guilty
The American, John Walker Lindh, who was captured in Afghanistan fighting alongside the Taliban, pleaded guilty which gave him life in prison. At first, Lindh was charged with conspiring to kill United States soldiers. He was also charged with providing support to al Qaeda. The United States initiated war on Iraq. Hostilities started about 90 minutes after the United States announced the deadline for Saddam Hussein to leave Iraq or face war passed. Train Bombings in Madrid
The Madrid train bombings were a series of coordinated bombings which killed 191 and wounding over 1,800. Massachusetts Legalized Same-Sex Marriage
Massachusetts legalized same-sex marriage. Massachusetts was the only state that actually permitted gays and lesbians to marry. This was the spark that started the revolution that led the U.S. Supreme Court to rule that regardless of sexual orientation, marriage was a right to be enjoyed by all Americans. My Grandmother Passed Away
I was very close to my grandmother. She had pancreatic cancer for 1 year before she passed away. I miss her a lot. -

They had this boycott to demand full rights for immigrant workers and their families. Organizers want to exercise both political and economic power on that day. President Bush declared a plan to send more than 20,000 additional American troops into Iraq. He said that the consequences of failure in Iraq were so high that the U.S. could not afford to lose. Obama Declares He's Running for President
Barack Obama stood before a cheering crowd in Illinois and announced he will be running for president in the 2008 Presidential election. Barack Obama defeated Senator John McCain of Arizona to become the 44th U.S. president. He was also the first African American president. Obama had 365 electoral votes and nearly 53 percent of the popular vote, while his Republican opponent had 173 electoral votes and more than 45 percent of the popular vote. I Met My Two Best Friends
On the first day of 2nd grade, I met my two best friends. Their names are Alex and Sophie. To this day, we are still best friends and do everything together. They changed my life and are always there for me when something is wrong. -
My First Holy Communion
I made my First Holy communion at St. Hilary's. I was very nervous. Afterwards, we had a big family party which i shared with my two cousins that also made their holy communion. This influenced because it brought me closer to jesus and made my faith stronger. -

ObamaCare was created to give more Americans access to affordable and quality health insurance. It was also created to reduce U.S. health care spending. I Got My Dog
I adopted my dog, Lexi, at the Women's Humane Society on July 1, 2010. She is a small bichon frise. When we adopted her, she was 3 years old. She was an important addition to my family and we all love her very much. -
Osama Bin Laden was Killed
Osama bin Laden was the leader that caused 9/11 and other major terrorist attacks around the world. He formed the terrorist group al-Qaeda, which would kill innocent people. United states soldiers found him hiding in Abbottabad, Pakistan, and killed him. His death stopped any other terrorist actions by him from occurring sometime in the future. Sandy Hook Shooting
20 students and six adults were shot and killed at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut by Adam Lanza. When this tragic event occurred, it showed Americans that their children and theirselves were not safe in the places they thought were the safest anymore. Boston Marathon Bombing
Two bombs went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing and injuring many people. After, an intense manhunt that shut down the Boston area to search for the bombers occurred. Police captured one of the bombing suspects, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Investigators later concluded that the bombers planned and carried out the attack on their own and were not connected to any terrorist organizations. I Overcame my Fear of Rollercoasters
One summer, I went to Ocean City, New Jersey with my friend Sophie. My whole life I have always hated rollercoasters. Sophie convinced me to go on one on the boardwalk and I loved it. This influenced my life because I finally realized what i have been missing out on and now I will ride any rollercoaster no matter how scary. -
My First Day of Junior High
It was very nerve wrecking, but exciting to be going to a big new school. It changed my life because i met a lot of new friends that I am still friends with to this day. It also helped to prepare me for High School. -
My Dad Moved to Florida
My dad's job relocated to Florida in October of 2015. He moved into an apartment in Melbourne, Florida. My family is planning on moving there sometime in the next year. I am going to have to transfer to Melbourne High School when we move. -
San Bernardino Attack
14 people were killed and 22 were seriously injured in a terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California. This attack consisted of a mass shooting and an attempted bombing. I Went to Florida
I went Florida to visit my dad for the first time since he moved there. When i was there, I visited High Schools that I may eventually go to. My family and I looked for houses. We also went to universal one day. This influenced me because it made our move to Florida a reality. -
Orlando Night Club Shooting
Omar Mateen killed 49 people and wounded 53 others in a terrorist attack inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. He was shot and killed by Police. Most of the victims were Latino. It was the deadliest mass shooting by a single shooter and the deadliest terrorist attack in the U.S. since 9/11. Mateen swore allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and said the shooting was caused by the U.S. killing of Abu Waheeb in Iraq. (http://www.nytimes.com) -
My Birthday Party
Last summer, I had a big party for my 15th birthday. I invited 50 of my friends over. This influenced me because this may be my last birthday with all of my friends from Abington if I move to Florida.
