The Terrible Birth
My name is Aberto Matteo. On the day of when I was born, my mother died because of cancer. Luckily, the cancer wasn't passed onto me. The doctors said that I very healthy to my mother and father. After my mother died, my dad took care of me until I became of age of where I could live by myself. -

The Deal
I borrowed some money from thieves and told them that I’d pay them back in one week. I had to pay back some other debts but I knew that I didn't have enough time to pay the other people back. It was always easier finding thieves in dark alleys. I knew that I had to lie to them. It was a regretful desicion to make. -
Broken Promise
It has been more than a week and I have been avoiding the theives. Avoiding them was a huge mistake. One day when i come back from grocery shopping, I see my apartment on fire. I knew that this was the work of the theives. I had to run away from them as quickly as possible but I had no money. -
The Job
I had to make some money to go to America. Two reasons I wanted to go to America was because I had to get away from the theives and I wanted to share my culture with other people with different cultures. I knew that it wasn't going to be easy, but I had to start at some point. I asked my uncle for a job and he gladly gave me a job. At that time, I wasn't happy at all. -
Goal Achieved
I was at my friend's house, which was were I lived, and I counted all of the money that I had. I had finally made enough money after 2 and a half months of working. Working as a shoe shiner was not as easy as it seems. I kind of want to thank my uncle for all the help. All that's left now is my way of travel to America. -
Arrival
Being on a boat for more than three weeks seriously killed me. I got lucky enough to find the Ellis Island boat. I had the worst cabin and my roommate was annoying. I swear that I was going to hang myself because of him, but the next day we arrived. Now I can go and be free from those wretched theives. -
Moving West
Moving west was not easy. I wanted to start a new life but I had to be one of the people who had to be on their feet and walk instead of riding on a horse. There were a lot of fields that my group walked through. Animals were all over the place making it easier to hunt for things. -
The Announcement
Since the Dawes Act was passed, euro American lifestyles were rejected. This meaning that I could not start a restaurant and share my culture with other people. I was so angry that I trashed my room and cried all night. I just didn't want to live anymore. -
New Business
I finally started my new business Papa John’s. It was first shut down in 1885 because of rodent infestation, but I reopened it. I first hired my neighbor, Bruno Dino, as the person who bakes the crust. Then I found some other people who had a past of making pizza. Most of the employees were Italian so I knew that it was going to be easy. -
Robbery
I was cleaning up the shop but I forgot to lock the door when I was. Then I hear a sound in the main room so I go and check. That’s when I notice that my shop was robbed. The cash register was open, but luckily the thief only took about 10% of the money. I always take 50 dollars out of the register just to be safe from problems like these. -
The Funeral
I only found out about it 4 days after he had died. Bruno was the best employee and neighbor anybody could ask for. There will never be anybody who can match his skills. I guess I have to start filling out paperwork. -
Aberto Matteo's Death
I was on my way to visit my friend. Then I found myself on the train tracks with a sprained ankle. I think that I was pushed by all of the overcrowding. I hear the train coming. Then I see the train's steam come out of its dull horn as if a bull was coming right at me.
