The heads of every estates in france met to try to reform the government and economy. It pushed the French Revolution froward because when the 3rd Estate realized they were being ignored they broke away from the government.

On 20 June 1789, the members of the French Third Estate took the Tennis Court Oath in the tennis court. to force a new constitution on the king. seeming to yield Louis legalized the National Assembly but then surrounded Versailles with troops and dismissed Jacques Necker, a popular minister of state who had supported reforms. In response, Parisians mobilized and on July 14 stormed the Bastille a state prison where they believed ammunition was stored and the French Revolution began.
