    The Edict of Nantes was issued by King Henry IV of France. The Edict of Nantes attepmted to promote civil unity between different religious affiliations. This was attempted by being more tolerant of Protestants, seeing them as humans rather as heretics.

    The Thirty Years war began between the Protestants and Catholics. It was fought because of religious differences due to the Catholics not wanting the Protestants in Europe. Because they're selfish poo-poo heads

    With the death of King Louis XIII, the next person to inherit the throne was his son Louis XIV. At five years old, he could not be a true king, so while Louis XIV was young, Cardinal Mazarin was in power of France while Louis grew up.

    King Louis XIV, grandson of Henry IV, decided to revoke the Edict of Nantes in 1685. Louis did this because he was a faithful Catholic. He then made Protestantism illegal with the Edict of Fontainebleau

    The War of the League of Augsburg began in 1688 with the death of Emperor Palatine. This caused a blur in the line of sucession for the German Throne. Also, Max Henry, the Archbishop of Cologne died, and the next in line was not of age yet. Both of these events caused confusion.
