  • Petition of right

    The petition of right was formed by the parliament and it was given to King Charles I. Charles I refused the petition of right. This showed that he was not trusted and it made him more mad at the parliament so he dissolved the parliament.
  • Ship Money

    This tax was mainly payed by towns in the coast to pay the upkeep of the Royal Navy. The King imposed this tax to the inland tows to raise a little bit of money.
  • The disagreement of the "Ship Money"

    A guy named John Hampden complained about the tax that the king had imposed unfairly, so he challenged the King authority by saying that the King didn't have the right to impose a tax like that. Later, the court determined that the King was the only one that had the authority to impose such a tax
  • The Short Parliament

    The Parliament didn't want to authorise more taxes until the King remove the famous tax called "Ship Money". The King wanted to re-open the war with Scotland so he accepted that petition with one condition: The Parliament had to garantee enough money for him to re-open the war. The Parliament refused.

    Oliver Cromwell was elected to Parliament for the second time. He openly criticised Charles taxes and the level of corruption in the Church of England.

    Charles had to have money to pay for an efficient army with which to defeat the Scots. But to have the money, Charles had to agree with the demands that the Parliament had given. He had no choice so he accepted.

    The rump parliament is when the royalsts left parliament to fight for the king it left the Presbyterians and Puritans. They disagreed on lot of important matters. This is signifiant cause it show the diversity of England.

    The king trail was the trail of king Charles 1. Charles the first was trailed for teason which did not make sence cause teason means to over throw the government which was himself. This is signifiant cause this showed that kings are not good and can be corrupt.
  • The execution of Charles 1

    He was executed for being a tyrant,traitor,murder and being a public enemy. He was executed by getting his head severd in front of the public. This was important cause it ended the life of the unfair king.
  • Oliver Cromwell

    Oliver Cromwell was the protecter of England he worked for parliament. He became protector December 16,1653 . This is important cause Oliver Cromwell knows that kings have a bad reputaion instead of being a king he wants to be known as protector.

    Cromwell loses patience and storms parliament just like the King Charles. This is significant cause it show that Cromwell was no better than Charles 1.

    Charles 2 became king but has a limited monarchy. He was better than his father he listened to parliament. This is important cause this shows that limted monarchy work out better then the divine right of kings.
  • The Glorious Revolution

    James the second came in power feb 6,1685. James was Catholic and many British people were not. He believed in divin right of kings. He wanted to take the power away from parliament. Rebellions broke out and he soon gave his throne up. Parliament gave the throne to James and Mary this important cause instead of having royal blood parliament picked the king.
