    Magna Carta
    King John of England was forced to sign this document after he signed away England to the Pope, in fear of being excommunicated, This document limited kings' power.

    This war effected all countires with death and debt. The was started with German Princes shutting down protestant churches, and then others got involved.

    Petition of Right
    The Anglican King Charles tried to convert people in Scottland to his relgion, and also did other things to upset the parliment. So, as a result parliment forced him to sign the Petition of Right, which limited his power. (similar to Magna Carta)

    English Civil War

    The war was between parliment and King Charles' forces. The war happened, becasue Charles signed the Petition of Right and then ignored it, so Parliment created an army fought Charles' army. Parliment won.
  • King Charles I is killed

    Charles I was charged with high treason, and found guilty after Oliver Cromwell and commanders of the New Model Army decided that England could never be at peace until Charles was dead.

    Oliver Cromwell led a massacre in Drogdeha, Ireland, to teach the Irish a "lesson" about resisting English control.

    Oliver Cromwell takes title of Lord protector
    Oliver Cromwell, the general of Parliment's army took the title of Lord Protector. Parliment was supposed to rule, but eventually- due to greediness- he gained more power.

    Charles II, the son of King Charles, was put on the throne after Oliver Cromwell died. Charles II was a better king than his father, and was good for England.

    James II, was the son of Charles II, and took after his grandfather (Charles I). James was a bad ruler, and much like Charles I, he ended up trying to disban Parliment.
