    This document said that all citizens of England would have basic rights including: no taxation without representation, a jury trial, and the protection of the law.

    King Edward's Rule

    King Edward I created a parliament that is known today as the Model Parliament because it was the model on which Edward's successors used to make make their own parliament. This was a huge step in the direction of a constitutional monarchy.

    Parliament

    King Edward I beckoned two burgesses from every borough two knights from every county along with some lords and bishops to create a parliament. This parliament acted as a kind of check and balance system that somewhat limited the kings power which is a big part of a constitutional monarchy.
