Also known as Revolt of the Brotherhoods, was a revolt against the government of The King Charles V by the burgeoisie in the kingdom of Valencia which was part of Aragon's Kingdom. It lasted since 1519 until 1523. -
It was an uprising from Castilians peasants against the rule of Charles 1. The "Comuneros" wanted a reorganization of the political system because Charles was seen as a foreign king. Juan de Padilla, Juan Bravo and Francisco Maldonado were the chiefs of the revolt and at the end they were beheaded in Villalar. It lasted until the 23rd April 1521 with the defeat of the "Comuneros". -
Charles V had to sign the Peace of Augsburg which gave the freedom to each ruler to decide the religion practiced within the state, either Lutheranism or Catholicism. Calvinism was not accepted until 13 years later. -
The second rebellion of the Alpujarras also called the Morisco Revolt. During the reign of Phillip ll it was a conflict with Morisc population the Kingdom of Granada. They were unhappy with the strict supervision of their in their daily and cultural basis. It lasted three years. -
The Battle of Lepanto was part of the Ottoman - Vietnam Wars, it was the effectively ending of the Ottoman expansion. Two years later they signed a treaty that established that the island was christian and the end of the war. 40,000 men died. -
The Spanish Armada was a fleet sent to England in order to conquer it by Isabel the Catholic. It was defeated by the British artillery in the English Channel. -
At the start of the 17th century, a third of the people in the Kingdom of Valencia were Moriscos. On 22 September 1609, the Moriscos in Valencia were given three days to leave the country. They had to leave most of their possessions behind and get on a boat to North Africa. Later, the Moriscos were expelled from the rest of the Spanish kingdoms in the Iberian Peninsula. They lost most of the peasants who worked the lands. -
The German Protestant princes confronted the Catholic emperor of Austria. The Count-Duke of Olivares was in favour of entering the war in support of Austria to maintain the Habsburgs’ dominance in Europe and limit the role of France. In 1643 the French defeated the Spanish tercios at the Battle of Rocroi. -
This treaty was signed in Pheasant Island and ended the Franco-Spanish War that had begun in 1635. It was signed between Louis XlV of France and Phillip lV of Spain. -
Dynastic Conflict established when Charles ll did not have succession. His two nephews fought for inheriting Charles ll's Throne. It ended up with The Peace of Utrecht, that stated Phillip V would be the new king.
