    Henry IV, a Bourbon prince and Huguenot leade, takes n the thrown. He was a protestant but he changed to catholic knowing he'd get problems as a protestants but he still protected the protestants. He protected the protestant with Edict of Nantes in 1598. Henry IV was murdered in 1610.

    A religious war in which protestants were in a war against the catholics. It all started when the protestants threw out 2 catholics out of a window and which triggered the thirty years of war in which left the German states totally devastated.

    Cardinal Richelieu
    He took power when Henry IV was assasinated and passed his power to his 9 year old son Louis XIII who appointed him Cardinal Richelieu. His goal was to destroy the nobles and the huguenots by destroying their private armies and castles and forbidding them to rebuild one but passed on the throne to Cardinal Jules Mazarin who took power while Louis XIV waited to take power.

    Charles led troops to artrest its most radical leaders but they escaped and raised their own army.

    As soon as Louis XIV became king, disorder happened all over France. He decided to take over the government himself and declared "I am the state". Louis XIV never called a meeting with the Estates general during his reign. Under Louis XIV has the strongest army in Europe with 300,000 soldiers. He was always short on cash but couldnt produce enough income due to high cost of courts and wars. Louis XIV died in 1715

    Oliver created a new model army which had defeated the kings army and taken the king as a hostage.

    Oliver Cromwell created the commonwealth in which it was mostly puritan power and he took the fun and joy out of daily life as it was all about god. When Oliver died so did the commonwealth.

Peter returned and left to toue Europe instead of staying in Moscow and he had gained muched knowledge from England and the Dutchs but Peter was forced to return because there were rumors that his half sister

    His half sister had planned a revolt against him so Peter came back ,now hes almost seven feet tall, and Peter had stopped his sister and put her in jail as a nun. Peter had brought ideas of Westernization and he had created taxes to cut everyones beard and changed ideas to competer with Europe like banning traditional dresses and creating the navy and technical schools and replaced the church and introduced potatoes and started a newspaper and simplified the alphabet and declared him as emperor

    King Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes when he targeted the huguenots as a threat to religious and political unity. More than 100,000 Huguenots had fled France but in that 100,000 had been the most hard working and prosperous of Louis's subjects which affected the economy like what had happened to Spain.

    He inherited the throne in 1685 from his brother but he angered people by suspending laws and many feared he'd restore the Roman catholic church so in 1688 parliament invited James protestant daughter and her dutch protestant husband to come rule and so James II fled

    William and Mary were invited to take the throne from James II as he had fled but they had to accept the English Bill of rights and their power was limited and England had become a limited monarchy which changed everything
  • St. Petersburg

    St. Petersburg
    Peter the great had created St. Petersburg out of nothing after he got in a war to win a sea port. He forced mostly soldiers and peasants to build him the city which had killed 50,000 of them and made it the capital and made all oficials travel to St.Petersburg. He had built a statue of himself at the city.
