21st Century Media: A Timeline

  • Genesis

    Genesis
    This is the first picture taken of me. The ultrasound scan my mom took while carrying me in her womb. Not many people realize this but we were exposed to various forms of media since we were inside the womb.

    Day 1
    I was born on August 8, 2000 at 8:10 pm, weighing 6 pounds through caesarian section because my heart stopped before I was able to get out of my mother's womb. Of course this couldn't be possible without the media that existed back then. Also, this picture itself is a form of media.

    The Television

    I grew up watching different tv shows on disney, nickelodeon and cartoon network. When I was 1 year old, my parents started making me watch different educational videos on the television when they aired. When I became older around 8 years old, I watched shows like iCarly, Victorious. However After 2012, it became a rare occasion for me to open the television.
  • The Computer

    The Computer
    A computer is an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program.
    At 6, my sister taught me how to use the computer, I used this to play games on online sites like y8 and y3. However as I grew older, I've been using this to search and communicate information.
  • Friendster

    In 2008, when friendster was highly popular, I asked my mother to create an account for me. She did and I used this to play games also but did not communicate much through this.
  • Youtube

    Youtube
    Youtube is a video sharing site where you can upload videos. Out of all the media sites, I am thankful for the creation of youtube because I am able to release my stress by watching videos.
  • Facebook

    Facebook
    Facebook is a site wherein we can share and get information without limitations. We can also play games there which at first was the main purpose of facebook for me. However as I grew up, I realized that it has become an essential. I use it to talk to people and ask them how they're doing or to check up on them. However, because of facebook, we have become reduced to social media interactions and rarely communicate face to face even if we could. Facebook was a game changer.
  • Yahoo! Messenger

    I used Yahoo Messenger to talk to people either through chat or through video messenger. I also found that I could play games with others through chat but its main purpose for me was to communicate and catch up with my friends and family. pic: https://messenger.yahoo.com/
  • Twitter

    Twitter
    Twitter is a social media site where I can post and interact publicly, however there are times when people get the wrong idea with what I post that's why I am really careful with posting. I guess that's what twitter taught me. To be careful and keep things private.
  • Newspaper

    A news paper is a printed publication (usually issued daily or weekly) consisting of folded unstapled sheets and containing news, feature articles, advertisements, and correspondence. (via google.com) I became editor in cheif of my grade school newspaper. I wanted to improve and my adviser told me to try and read newspapers so I did. I think that newspapers are one of the best sources of information because you are sure that all the information you get are credible.
  • Smart Phone

    A smartphone is a handheld personal computer with a mobile operating system and an integrated mobile broadband cellular network connection for voice, SMS, and Internet data communication; most if not all smartphones also support Wi-Fi. (via wikipedia) My parents got me a phone when I turned 12. Unlike before, I didn't use this to play games but purely for communication purposes. Through the phone, I could do various things like listen to music, search or simply talk to others.

    When I was in grade school I was always assigned to make announcements and lead the morning prayer through the school intercom. We used the intercom to share needed announcements and information to the school all at once so that they recieve exactly the same information.
  • Photography

    I can say that one of my hobbies is photography though I don't really tell others. I love keeping memories through this and capturing special moments. Also, I was once asked to photograph for the school paper while acting as EIC. I never stopped since then. The picture attatched was a picture that I took of my sister in Tagaytay just recently.
