    Initiation

    The stage in which Hidalgo started the the independence movement. This stage included the invasion of most of the states of the north. This stage eneded with the death of the insurgent leaders.

    The conspiracy beings
    A group of criollos united under the excuse that they were "literary reunions". Some of the conspirators were Miguel Hidalgo, Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Juan de Aldama, Miguel Dominguez, Epigmenio Gonzales and Marino Glavan.

    The Spanish start to search for the Queretaro Conspiracy
    Mario Galvan told his superior about the conspiracy, who told the audiencia about the conspiracy. The search begun on this date with the search of Epigmenio Gonzales's house. The Spaniards found guns and more in his house and continued to search for the others.

    The Grito de Dolores marks the beginnign of the independence movment. Father Mighel Hidalgo rallied people and inspired them to conquer Guanajuato, Celaya and San Miguel.
  • Hidalgo approaches Guanjuato

    Hidalgo approaches Guanjuato
    Hidalgo had taken San Miguel and Celaya, next stood Guanajuato. Hidlago asked the intendant of Guanajuato, Riano, to surrender, but he didnt, since he had seen the attrocities of Celaya and San Miguel. He was protected in a fortress, Hidalgo's men stormed in and killed everybody.

    Hidalgo was ready to invade Mexico City
    Hidalgo's army of 80000 men had recently defeated the now small spanish army, forcing them to retreat to Mexico City. Hidalgo was ready to invade Mexico city, but he deicided to wait it out and gather more forces.

    The Spanish retaliate
    The Spanish fight the insurgents back under the lead of Felix Calleja. Hidalgo´s big army lost against Calleja´s small but tactical army, this was one of the events when the insurgents started to lose.
  • Allende and Hidalgo are executed

    Allende and Hidalgo are executed
    The fleeing rebels are ambushed in the city of Monclova and Allend and Hidlago are taken to Chihuahua in chains. The rebels leaders were executed immediatly, but Hidalgo had to be defrocked of his priesthood. Morelos assumed Hidlago´s position, to continue the rebelion in the south.

    Consolidation

    Once Hidalgo was dead, Jose Maria Morelos took charge in the south. Morelose´s armies were smaller, but well trained and tactical, unlike Hidlago´s. This stage ended with the deafeat of the Morelos army, and the capture of Morelos himself.
  • Morelos is captured and killed

    Morelos is captured and killed
    Morelose´s army is defeated by the Spanirds and he becomes a fugitive. He runs for some time until he is caught on november and executed in Mexico City after his priesthood was defrocked.

    Resistance

    This is the stage in which Morelos´s army ad been defeated and there was no big insurgent army any more. Guerrero and Guadalupe Victoria kept fighitng in Veracruz and Guerrero.
  • The Plan de Iguala is created

    The Plan de Iguala is created
    After some meeting, Itrubide and Guerrero agree upon three guarantees. That the new country will be catholic, a monarchy, and that the criollos are equal to peninsulares. To protect these there would be the army of the three guarantees, this was all said in the Plan de Iguala.

    Consummation

    In this tage Iturbide and Guerrero made the Plan de Iguala and Mexico became independent.
  • The war ends

    The war ends
    Iturbide has his triumphant entry into Mexico City, since he won against the Spaniards. He becomes the first emperor of Mexico since he was the leader of the three guarantee army.
