Miguel Hidalgo rang the bell for rebellion against the Spanish. THe 17th of September 80,00 men when out througfh Mexico City. Hidalgo was then defeated. The next leader was Jose Maria Morelos who led the revolution for four years. He was then defeated in 1815 by Agustin de Iturbide. -
Venezuela declares independence from Spain
Simon Bloivar won the independencec for Venezuela from Spain. Bolivar's army experienced various defeats. Bolivar had to go into exile twice. -
Argentina declared Independence
San Martin won Argentina's independence. Spanish forces still posed a threat near Chile and Peru. San Martin led an army across the Andes to Chile. He was joined by Bernardo O'Higgins, and freed Chile. -

San Martin needed a bigger army and discussed this issue with Bolivar. San Martin left his army for Bolivar to command. Bolivar's army later defeated the Spainsh and won independence for the Spanish colonies called Gran Colombia.
