My Academic Career
This is a timeline of the events leading up to my current status as a graduate student, pursuing my master's degree at UCF. -
High School Graduate
I graduated from Rockledge High School, in Rockledge, Florida. Here is where I met my favorite teacher and decided to pursue a career in education. -
Community College
I became a full-time student at Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) formerly known as Brevard Community College (BCC). I also started working in the Office of the Registrar as a student aide. -
Direct Connect
Having already completed a majority of my credits, I only needed to finish one more semester. I graduated and would be able to transfer into the University of Central Florida (UCF) as a junior! -
Psyched to be a Knight
I am officially accepted into UCF's undergraduate Psychology program. -
GRE
In hopes of being accepted into a graduate Psychology program, I took the GRE twice. Both times I did well, but I did not get the scores I needed for admittance. I decided to change my path. -
The Great Escape Room
Although it did not pertain to the education aspect of my plan, I started working at The Great Escape Room, where I am currently the Assistant Manager. This job focuses on the psychological interest I have always had. I get to experience how people interact and behave under pressure situations with people they have known for years and strangers. It has helped me gain perspective on why people behave certain ways and has given me the opportunity to apply that in my courses with peers. -
Teaching Experience
I had volunteered over the years in many schools, but I decided to gain teaching experience by becoming a substitute teacher for Orange County Public Schools through Kelly Services. -
Bachelor's Degree
I successfully graduated with my Bachelor's degree. Majored in psychology, minored in education, and decided that I wanted to teach instead of focus solely on research. -
Certification Program
My new path towards education led me to the Community College Education certification program. With this certificate I am one step closer to being involved in higher education. -
Another Step Closer
I successfully completed the certification program and having gained the knowledge and experience needed, decided to go one step further and learn about more aspects of higher education. -
UCF is My Path to Higher Education
After completing the certification program completely online, I realized how convenient it was to have the option to partake in online courses while working two jobs. I applied to a few different places, but ultimately decided to attend my Alma Mater, UCF, for my master's degree in Applied Learning and Instruction. I am excited to see what lies in the future for my educational and professional careers!
