The Spanish formed a new viceroy in Argentina on this date. This date gets its significance from the fact that Buenos Aires became the capital of Argentina. -

The British invasion into Argentina marked a significant event in the earliest settlement of Argentina. This invasion was crucial since it officially ended the continual Spanish invasions. The British were able to kick out the Spanish, but unfortunately for them would later be kicked out by the natives. -
The Independence of Argentina
This day marks Argentina's independence from the constant overturn of power. On this day, Argentina was able to break all ties from the British and the Spanish in order to declare their own power and unity. Unfortunately, much political turmoil and civil wars ensued. -
Juan Manuel de Rosas Becomes Dictator
Juan Manuel de Rosas became the first dictator of Argentina. His rule settled some of the dispute between federalism and unitarism. This was a major step in defining Argentina as a newfound country.
