    The finicial state of France was about to crumble and the Estates General met to discuss ways to resolve it. King Louis ended the meeting after the third estate began arguing; this led to a making of the National Assembly.

    A crowd of about 1,000 people stormed The Bastille prison in Paris to free prisoners and steal weapons. The crowd later destroyed the building and is seen as a symbol of the Revolution.

    A crowd of French citizens stormed the palace. The king and his family escaped but were later arrested by the legislative assembly.

    King Louis was convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers. In return, the national assembly sentenced him to death by guillotine.

    The Reign of Terror was a result of conflict between rival political factions. During this period there were a sky rocketing amount of executions by guillitine.

    Napolean returned from a military expedition in Egypt to a hero's welcome. He overthrew the directory with a coup de d'etat.
