    Members of the Third Estate, were determined to change the system and create a constitution that set out equal rights for all men. They declared themselves the National Assembly. It became an assembly not of the Estates but composed of "the People".

    This document was supposed to remind the people of the responsibilities that they had. It compared the hgiher class to the lower class. The slaves and women were not included in this document. There were 17 laws.

    People just started going by their last name, instead of things like Duke. This was just another way for people to be seen as equal. Your name was all that you had. You could ruin your name by doing something wrong, but no one was higher ranked than you.

    He was convicted of high treason. King Louis XVI was executed. He became the first person to die in the Reign of Terror.

    The job of the committee was to keep one person from having too much power. This protected newly established republic against foreign attacks. It was first made of 9 people. It slowly grew to 12. This committee had supervisory power over the Judicial and Legislative efforts.
