  • 1791; Constitutional Act

    The Constitutional Act was the act in 1791 which divided the former provice of Quebec into Upper and Lower Canada.

    The Act of Union was the act taking place in 1841 which marked the end of Upper Canada and the beginning of a new political era, Canada as one united Country
  • 1864; Charlottetown Conference

    In the spring of 1864, the idea of a Maritime Conference was put into play and this conference was held in Charlottetown. The colonies present were: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI.
  • 1864; Quebec Conference

    The Quebec Conference was in the month of October of 1864. This conference included all of the Maritime colonies all fighting for equity.
  • 1865; Cancellation of the Canadian-American Reciprocity Treaty

    As revenge by America against Great Britain for not official support of the South of America in the American Civil War, America decided to end all trading between us and them, sparking the idea for Confederation.

    The London Conference lasted though the winters of 1866-67 and included the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.
