The First Crusade

End: October 1099 The First Crusade, or the "People's Crusade", was the only sucessful crusade for the Christians. The Christians conquered the Holy Land.

The Second Crusade

Start: March 1145
End: April 1149 Fifty years after the Muslims conquered Jerusalem, or the Holy Land, the Christian crusaders again tried to recapture Jerusalem. The Christians were unsuccessful.

The Third Crusade

May 1, 1189

Start: May 1189
End: September 1192 The Christian crusaders were again unsuccessful in conquering the Holy Land.

The Fourth Crusade

Nov 1, 1202

Start: November 1202
End: May 1204 The Christian crusaders were again unsuccessful in capturing Jerusalem. The crusaders attacked Constantinople, burning and destroying it.

The Children's Crusade

May 1, 1212

Start: May 1212
End: September 1212 The crusaders tried to "bring back innoccence and peace" by recruiting children to try to capture the Holy Land, or Jerusalem.

The Fifth Crusade

End: August 1221 The crusaders unsuccessfully tried to establish a secure base in Eqypt.

The Sixth Crusade

Jun 1, 1228

Start: June 1228
End: August 1229 The crusaders were not successful in recapturing Jerusalem.

The Seventh Crusade

Aug 1, 1248

Start: August 1248
End: (Unsure of month) 1254 The crusaders tried to recapture Jerusalem and capture a base in Egypt. They were unsuccessful at both.

The Eighth Crusade

Jun 1, 1270

Start: June 1270
End: August 1291 The crusaders tried to convert the people living near the bay of Tunis (in Africa) to Christianity. They also tried to recapture Jerusalem. They were unsuccessful.
