The first Crusade started because Muslims were going to take Constantinople so the leaders there asked the pope and he asked for help. A huge army arrived, each person with different ideas, so they went to recover the Holy Land. It eneded 1099.

The Third Crusade occur to recapture Jerusalem beacuse recently in 1887 it had fallen to a Kurdish warrioir and Muslim leader Saladin. it ended in 1192.

The Battle of Acres lasted two years. It is one of the dealdliest event from the whole Crusades. After a long time fighting, Acre surrendered to Kings Philip, Richard and Guy; Philip departed the Holy Land for France shortly afterward.

After the siege of Acres, Richard decided to go to Jaffa where he could launch his attack to Jerusalem, Richard won.

Richard and Saladin agreed to a truce. Jerusalem would remain under Muslim control but unarmed Christians could freely govisit the Holy places.

The leaders of the crusade decided to make Egypt their objective point, since this country was then the center of the Muslim power.

After just five days of fighting, Crusaders capture the Hungarian port of Zara. The Venetians had once controlled Zara but lost it to the Hungarians and offered passage to Egypt to the Crusaders in exchange for Zara. The pope then excomunicated the Crusades and the Venetian city.

In 1204, the Crusaders with help of the Venetians and others sacked Constantinople. They destroyed works, killed most civilians, sacked churches, monasteries and convents.
