    This happens at the Battle of Hastings. William I or William the Conqueror defeats Harolds army and King Harold is killed. William's life as king was filled with greatness, he sustained his city, no one had overthrown it. He was a great military leader, he invaded Scotland and suceded, also he invaded France.

    At this time, there wasn't a separation between the church and state. There were laws about having to go to church and receiving communion at least once a year. Kings would empower the bishop which would have the government controlling both church and state.

    This was the first crusade of 9. This crusade was fought to take back Jerusalem. The Christians thought it was there duty to fight back and reclaim the holy lands. The crusaders slaughtered hundreds of men women and children just to reclaim what was theres.

    This was the first defensive crusade. The Muslims sent a full attack on Edessa, and took it. This was the first loss of the crusades. Then, the cruaders lead 50,000 men to their death is Syria.

    The third crusade was inspired by the crushing defeat at the end of the second crusade. Only one true battle was fought, and that was at the city of Arsuf. This battle was ended by a peace treaty that re-established Jerusalem.

    This crusade was called by Pope Innocent III as a battle to take over Egypt. But many of the christian leaders were either fighting a battle and the other ones saw no reason to. They were all scared for another loss, like in the 2,3,and 4th crusade.

    This crusade was fought for the same reason they all were. Recover the holy lands. Fredrick excomunicated the emperor and took his palce. He sailed with an amazingly large army to Egypt, where he created a large army base right before he attacked Jerusalem. This was the first win in a long time for the crusaders bercause the last 4 crusades failed. This crusade acomplished more then those crusades combined by regaining Jerusalem. Jerusalem fell to the Turks 15 years later

    This crusade was lead by the French as an attack on Egypt, which was the leader of Muslem population. King Louis IX lead an army against 70,000 egytpians. It failed. King Louis was captured and his ransom was paid for 800,000 gold

    The battle of supremacy has been fought and China has won, taking the mongols land, is still a large part of China today.

    The Eighth Crusade- World
    This was the last crusade aimed for the Holy Land, this was the last major crusade because of the loss in this battle. This was fought to keep the Mongols out of the Holy Land. Louis IX was scared when a group of Mamluks captured a city right next to them. Louis desided to attack Africa to cut off their homeland, it somewhat succesful because it all worked out, but most of them died from water sickness, such as cholera. Louis died to this and his last words were Jerusalem.
