    Tacky's Rebellion
    In Jamaica, Tacky, a rebellion leader, ordered a whole slave revolt against the plantations and their owners. Their mission was to overthrow British Rule. It soon came to an end when one of the slaves of the rebellion controlled plantations told the authorities. Tacky was tracked down and killed. This movement was one of the biggest movements in the Caribbeans.

    The Battle of Havana
    The battle was fought between the British and Spanish for control of Havana during the Seven Years War. The British controlled Havana for a short time until it was passed back to the Spanish with the Treaty of Paris. The importance of Havana to the Spanish was because it was a naval base.

    As technology developed sugar plantations, the more the sugar was produced. In 1774,680 sugar plantations averaged over 441 acres each. The largest one was 2000 acres.

    Haitian Revolution
    The Haitian Revolution has often been described as the largest and most successful slave rebellion. It is certainly the only uprising that led to the creation of an independent nation. Slaves initiated the rebellion in 1791 and by 1803 they had succeeded in ending not just slavery but French control over the colony. This revolution was influenced by the French Revolution of 1789.

    As the Monroe Doctrine was passed, it stopped European influences in the Western Hemisphere. this helped the Caribbean to become more independent.

    The Dominican Republic has become independent from Haiti. Haiti was reluctant to let it go, in fear that the French would gain control of it to use and get Haiti. A few fights would happen but nothing too big.

    The Ten Years' War was part of Cuba's fight for independence from Spain. The uprising was led by locals and slaves. It was mostly led by Carlos Manuel de Cespedes.

    It ending when the psanish promised to abloish slavery and other reforms. Many of these promises were broken later on in the 1800's. This was the first of the three wars that Cuba fought agaibst Spain fior independance.

    The final three months of the conflict escalated to become the Spanish–American War, with United States forces being deployed in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippine Islands against Spain.
