    Muhammad Mi takes over Northern Sudan
    Muhammad Mi sent his son Ismail to lead 10,000 men to take over Northern and Central Sudan. Sudan started to form some kind of political power for the first time.
  • Condominium Agreement

    Condominium Agreement
    Britain and Egypt signed an agreement stating that Egypt and Britain would have permission to control sudan together.
  • Political Parties

    Political Parties
    Two political parties were formed. The National Unionist Party demanded union of Sudan and Egypt. However, The Umma Party demanded independence from Egypt.
  • The End of the Condominium Agreement

    Egypt and Britain agreed to end the Condominium Agreement. They gave Sudan their self government. They provided a Senate, Council of Ministers, and House of Represenatives.
  • Independence

    The Parliament voted that Sudan should be an independent state.

    British and Egyptian troops leave Sudan.
  • General Ibrahim Abboud invades Sudan

    General Ibrahim Abboud attacks the government of al-Azhari. He took control of Sudan. He demanded that Sudan's democracy would be suspended, and he would rule Sudan.
  • Rebel Forces Attacked

    The government launched attacks on Rebel Forces in Equatoia Province.
  • War Ends

    Colonel Numeiry and Major-General Lagu sign a peace treaty to end the war.
  • Internal Turmoil

    Hussein alHindi and Sadik al-Mahdi brought 2,000 heavily armed citizens to Khartoum and Omdurman. The attack immobilized Sudan's Air Force from the ground.
