The Arabian Peninsula was an important trade stop with a diverse population. They had no central government and mostly believed in polytheism. But, before it became an important trading location it was inhabited by Bedouins.

He and his family started to become very wealthy as he was very successful in his trading. He soon realized that the wealthy did not share with the poor.

He found a cave on a mountain where he prayed and fasted. Then he had a vision of the angle Gabriel coming to him and telling him to spread the word of Allah. He retreated to this cave several times where he was met by Gabriel multiple times.

Muhammad decided to become a preacher in order to spread his visions. Muslims came to believe that he was a prophet.

Muhammad knew him, his followers and his beliefs were still in danger so him and his followers moved to Mecca. There, him and all the other religious groups decided to respect their religious freedoms.

By the time of his death most of the region were Muslims. After he died many tribes abandoned Islam or found other prophets.

Abu Bakr was one of Muhammad's original followers. After Muhammad died a group of people decided that Abu Bakr should be the next Caliph or leader. He tried to provent fighting between tribes and brought them together to fight other empires that were not Muslim.
