  • High School Classes

    I need to take 4 years of science courses, 3 of which must include Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. In order to be competive for a position, I need to get at least a 643 on the Verbal part of the SAT and a 674 on the SAT's Math portion. For the ACT, I should get 30.2 on the English, 30.5 for the Reading, and 30.6 and 29.9 for Math and Science Reasoning, respectively. I should also get in prime physical condition.

  • College Visit

    To increase my oppurtunities, I need to go to the Air Force Academy campus to get as much information about it as I can. I will attempt to find any programs that the Academy hosts that are relevant to my interests and try to attend them.
  • Pre-Candidate Questionnaire/Nominations

    I need to take a questionnaire my junior year in high school in order to apply for a candidate position. This year I will also need to contact my state representatives or other nominators in hopes of a nomination to the academy.
  • Candidate Kit

    If my quesionnaire is screened and approved, I will recieve a candidate kit and must take a service academy medical exam and a candidate fitness assessment prior to January 31st of my senior year.
  • HIgh School Graduation

    On this date I will graduate Palmer High School with an IB diploma and be ready to move on to college at the Air Force Academy.
  • College Courses

    At the Academy, I will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and I will try have a minor in Chinese, along with the other mandatory, military-based courses offered at the Academy.
  • Third Year Cadet

    After my first year of school at the Academy, I will become a Third year cadet which will give me more free time and liberties, but will also give me more responsibilities.
  • Second Year Cadet

    After what would be my Sophomore year at the academy, I will be come a Second Year Cadet which is pretty much a Junior. I will be given even more liberties, but once again I will be given more responsibitities such as helping out the new Freshman, or Fourth Years and I may move dormitories and become paired with a Fourth Year.
  • First Year Cadet

    This year will be one of the most important years at the academy. I will be taking many hard finals to graduate and I will have even more freedom, but it will be accompanied by an equal amount of responsibilties.
  • College Graduation

    I will graduate after having getting a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Chinese, and the knowledge and experiences of having taken many other classes.
  • Officer Training School

    After graduation, I will be a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and I will attend a six week Officer Training School to teach me how to properly lead the men and women who might be serving under me.
  • Phase I of Training

    This phase is what will actually get me a chance to join the program. I need to create an indepth application showing why I should be selected for such an elite program.
  • Phase II

    If I pass Phase I, I will then be tested to the farthest limits of my physical ability to see how I react under extreme conditions. This phase includes three mile runs, 1500 meter swims, and six mile rucksack marches. Most candidates for the program dropout or get washed out in this phase.
  • Combat Rescue Officer Training

    After I finish Phases I and II of the application process, I will then begin about 53 weeks of various training to cover all the necessary skills needed to become a Combat Rescue Officer
  • Pararescue/Combat Rescue Officer Indoctrination Course

    This 9 week course is similar to Phase II in it is very physically demanding. It also educates the candidates about the terminology and history of the profession. Completion of this course is necessary to go onto the next courses.
  • Army Airborne School

    This is a 3 week couse teaching the cadets parachuting skills off of static lines.
  • Air Force Combat Diver School

    This couse is 5 and a half weeks long and teaches the cadets special skills needed to become exemplary divers. I will learn how to stealthily dive in order to infiltrate occupied waters.
  • Air Force Basic Survival School

    This 2.5 week program teaches cadets proper procedures to use in the wilderness or in hostile territory, regardless of weather conditions, in order to return home safely.
  • Army Military Free Fall Parachutist School

    This is a 5 week program to enhance the skills learned by the cadets from the airborne school. The cadets will now learn how to conduct free fall, or HALO, jumps.
  • Advanced SERE course

    This is a 4 week course that will instruct cadets advanced Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape skills. It teaches many skills that include what to do in a prisoner of war situation, and how to evade your captors.
  • Pararescue EMT-Basic Traning

    In this 4 week program, the cadets are taught how to manage trauma patients prior to extraction and provide emergency care.
  • Air Force Combat Rescue Officer Apprentice Course

    This is a very long and important course that lasts 17 weeks. This course teaches the cadets all the information they would possibly need to know in the field such as, weapon handling, flight characteristics of aircraft, field leadership, employment techniques such as fast roping and rappelling, along with many other skills. CRO candidates graduate this course as non-rated aircrew members on HH-60 Pave Hawks and HC-130 Herculeses.
  • Graduation

    Upon completion of the final course in the training, I would officially be a Combat Rescue Officer in the United States Air Force. I will be on call almost all the time, in case an accident, regrettably, happens and my team and I are called to service.
