Islam is about peace and equality and NOI is about superiority and separation. In Islam, Allah is their only god, but in NOI anyone can achieve godly status.

He began to educate himself on the Nation of Islam and was convinced by his fellow inmates and his brother to convert to NOI. Despite the religious differences, he and MLK communicated for the common good of African Americans.

Those who could not make it were asked to stay home from work or school to show their solidarity. In the year after over 1.5 million black men registered to vote for the first time.
