start my research studying what others have said about trash.
In particular read "kitsch, an anthology of bad taste" by Gillo Dorfles and "Kitsch in sync, a consumer's Guide to Bad Taste" by Peter Ward.
I want to define what kitsch is.
My first three week of work will be dedicate to this purpose. Also start to study what artists/designers have done about kitsch/trash. Understand their point of view will give me references to built my own point of view. Start from the initial bibliography -

The Pope embroidery
I just come back from Italy where, in a market, I found an amazing material for my research: an embroidery set of the Pope (not the current one, but Giovanni XXIII).
The set contains a screen printed fabric, the needle and the strings.
Everything is kitsch: the subjec and the concept behind it.
This is an imitation of embroidery made for people that want to show others the talent that they don't have. There is a needs of create an effect, to amaze whitout have a concept: this is purely Kitsch. -

I made a summary of all the concept so that have all the material ready to write the theoretical part of research.
Now I have a clearer idea of what Kitsch is, it is very complex, more that what I imaged, but this make my research more interesting.
