  • Start Of The Haitian Revolution

    The French and Europeans had taken the Haitians and began to enslave them. The were cruel to them in many ways. So, the Africans all decided to come together and stand for what was right and that was the freedom and indepence for each and everyone of them. This was all possible with the help of the African's Leader in this war: Toussaint L’Ouverture. He lead the Haitians into this war. L'Ouverture was determined to fight, as he was once a slave himself.

    The Haitians went up against French Masters of those who enslaved Haitians. The Lieutenant of Toussaint declared Haiti an independent country in January 1st, 1804 after the death of the General Toussaint in April 1803. He helped lead the Haitians to their independence, free all of them from the control or the Europeans and the French. After this declaration, he was the one who then named Haiti, which means "mountainous land" in Arawak.

    It was Napoleon Bonaparte who had tried to lead the revolution. It was most likely the French who helped Napoleon during the Brazilian Revolution, considering that’s where he came from. It was in 1807 that he and his army invaded Spain and Portugal. Napoleon wanted to close the ports of British shipping. And with this the King and Queen escaped their home to not cause any trouble leaving through ships, to that by any chance they won’t get captured.

    The Creoles wanted to be equal with the higher classes, but they all knew that they’ll never happen. They were mad at the fact that the Spaniards had more power than them, even though they were of the same ethnicity. The Leaders of this revolution was a wealthy man from Venezuelan named, Simon Bolivar. The other man was an Argentinian liberator, Jose de San Martin. In 1810 was when Simon Bolivar lead the revolution uprising.

    The reasoning for Padre Miguel Hidalgo’s war was because he believes in Enlightenment ideals. That was his only logical reasoning for this. It was the Indian and Mestizo who followed Padre Miguel Hidalgo to Mexico City, with an outcome of 80,000 men ready to fight. It was September 16, 1810, is when Hidalgo decided to rebel against the Spanish.

    Due to unfortunate circumstances, Morelos was also defeated by a Creoles officer, who later lead and proclaimed Mexico’s independence in 1821. And so, at the end of this revolution, it was lead by a completely different man called Agustin de Iturbide in 1821. It was the Spanish that the Mexicans and Mestizos went against to gain their Independence.

    Their only enemies was both Spain and Portugal, in which the Brazilians tried to gain independence. This revolution wasn’t violent; it had no bloodshed. This is the most “peaceful” revolution. This is why the Brazilian revolution had such an impact and that is known well throughout history. This battle went on for about 8 year until Napoleon was defeated. Then causing a Portuguese royal help Brazilians and find a ruler who then helped them receive their independence; his name was Dom Pedro.

    The Creoles were going against their own people, the Spanish. There were two wars going on during this time. but eventually got together and fought as one. San Martin was still going against Chile and Peru even after he declared Argentina it’s independence. It was in 1821, Bolivar had won Venezuela's independence. Yet, in 1822, both Bolivar and San Martin came together to fight as one. When 1824 came around, San Martin let Bolivar take control of his army; with this he defeated the Spaniards.
