  • Repeal of corn law 1791 - 1846

    This a Law that states that the Wheat and Flour that is from British North America are imported to Great Britian with lower tariff than Wheat and flour from any other coutries. The Corn Law made the price of bread high in GB. they decied to repeal the corn law and adopted the Free Trade.
  • the red river settlement - selkirk's first settelers

    Selkirk's first group of settelers are about 80 scottish people. they expericence cool winter, poor food because they came too late to plant crops.

    the second group of settlers are 18 woman over the age of 15, 1 girl and 11 children under eight. 1 woman give birth to a child on the ship during a storm on the way to Hudson Bay.
  • Incident at Seven Oaks 1814- 1816

    a young metis took settlers out to search for land, and they meet with the new governor, Robert Semple near a grove of trees named Seven Oaks. At the end 1 Metis and 21 settlers died. Later on, the Metis control over that area but Lord Selkirk brought 90 soldiers and took control.

    This was first a conference about the Maritime coloines forming a Maritime Union and uniting under a central government. There were an uninvited guest, it was The united Province of Canada. The United province of Canada was convincing them to join them to make a larger union. They brought up an idea of confederation. some coloines agree, some disagree and some doesn't care, The result was a secound meeting in Quebec to discouse more.
