    The Maritime colonies had planend a conference for the Canadians to attend to appoint their own speakers. It was decided, after much deliberation, to hold the meetings in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, beginning on September 1, 1864. They were meeting to disciuss joining as a country.

    The conference at Quebec was noted for its brevity. On the eighteenth and final day, In an adjourned session at Montreal, seventy-two resolutions, commonly referred to as the Quebec Resalutions, Were adopted, And later became the substantial basis for the British North America Act.
